Remote Coaching

If in-person Personal Training isn’t for you, you can still benefit from the education, guidance, and accountability of a coach virtually. Remote fitness coaching includes communication via weekly app messaging and monthly coaching calls, personalized programming to help you reach your goals, and education on that programming to build your fitness knowledge.

The key to effective remote fitness coaching is accurately judging the client’s adherence and execution of the fitness program. Regardless of the quality and complexity of the program, its phases, and its progressions, execution and performance is what translates the planned actions into predictable results. Through the TrueCoach app, email, and monthly coaching calls, I keep a pulse on your performance, guide you to better execution, hold you accountable, and adjust your program to meet you where you are each step of the way to get you to your goals.

Remote Coaching

Every potential client get a free 1hr coaching consultation where we’ll get to know each other, discuss your primary goals, your schedule, your circumstances, your activities, and decide if/what service I provide works for you. Should that be remote fitness coaching, information I gather on that call will be used to write the first phase of your fitness program.

Your fitness program will be shared on the TrueCoach Training App. After I complete your program (within a few days from signup), you’ll receive an email invitation to make a free client membership on the site and download the app on your phone. I’ll have shared phase 1 of your program (28-31 days, to next billing cycle), which you could now view from the client dashboard on your computer or on the app. I’ll also send you a TrueCoach onboarding document to get you started.

After reviewing client input to TrueCoach (completion, exercise results/videos, workout comments), I send a weekly coaching email every Sunday. In this email I give the client feedback on their prior week, guidance on their upcoming week, and summarize any differences between the two. I program Sun-Sat, which is what will be reviewed, but about once a month you’ll have a week that is half phase 1 and half phase 2.

Every month we hop on a 1hr monthly coaching call. Here we review all inputs of the current phase for feedback/review and make decisions based on goals/progress for the phase to follow. The first of these calls is your consultation, and every consecutive call is scheduled (ideally) on the fourth Sunday of your current phase, giving us a minimum of 3 full weeks to review. You then perform the final week with all the coaching feedback while I write your next phase. This phase (28-31 days) is shared on TrueCoach after your billing cycle passes, an email is sent with a summary/instructions, and the process starts over.

Using the TrueCoach App

Notably, we will use TrueCoach for the following:

  1. Full access to your program through the mobile app.

    • See workouts in order (by day), exercises in each workout, and their respective programming variables (sets, reps, resistance, rest, etc.).

  2. Marking workouts and specific exercises as complete through the mobile app.

    • This is our accountability system so we can determine if any slowdown in results is from programming or from program execution.

  3. Adding results to exercises to indicate good/poor form, incomplete/extra sets, increase/decrease in weights or reps, etc.

    • I review this weekly, give feedback in the weekly email, and adjust the following week’s programming variables when necessary.

    • This^ happens more at the beginning of the program while we’re finding appropriate weights, reps, sets, and exercises as you rapidly see progress.

    • Here is where you could request exercise changes due to equipment or form issues.

  4. Adding comments to workouts to explain other circumstances.

    • Are you dealing with an injury or illness that is affecting your performance on this day? Did this make you skip this day?

    • Was this day performed off-schedule or in several parts throughout the day/week?

    • Is the entirety of this day too difficult/heavy/much? Too easy/light/little? Would you like some exercises be changed?

  5. (Optional) Recording/uploading exercise videos to TrueCoach, under “exercise results” for form-review by the coach when necessary.

    • Used most in the beginning of our coaching to go through major movements and in later phases when introducing more complex exercises.

    • This is also used to adjust reps, resistance, rest, and exercise choice based on form.

You’re reading this now because you have one major goal, and I want to get you there. More than that, I want to get you to the next goal. I want you to reach the one you have now and then ask yourself “what next?” I want you to do that again and again until fitness is an engrained part of your lifestyle and you’re more than just healthy, but you perform. I like to make athletes and fitness enthusiasts, so if progress over the long-term interests you, let’s schedule a consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • All remote coaching clients, whether they do fitness, nutrition, or both, will be put on a recurring monthly billing schedule. Your subscription can be managed from the Acuity Scheduling App, which you will also be using to schedule your monthly coaching calls. It can be canceled/frozen at any time. New phases of your program are shared within 24hrs of your billing cycle date after you are charged. Each billing cycle your inventory of 1hr coaching calls replenishes to 1.

  • You can cancel your subscription at any point up until 24hrs before your next billing date. I’d appreciate if this was made clear on the coaching call prior to your cancellation so I can do work on a wrap-up email instead of a phase you won’t receive. You can manage your subscription (cancel/freeze) from the Acuity Scheduling App.

There are no refunds for your monthly fee after it has been charged. Your access to TrueCoach and your program will remain until the final day of the billing cycle you last paid for and you will receive all emails/calls for that month.

The monthly 1hr coaching call is scheduled/confirmed at the end of the previous coaching call. Again, ideally this is the fourth Sunday of your billing cycle. This is scheduled on the Acuity Scheduling App. The appointment can be rescheduled via the app up until 24hrs beforehand. After that, if you have to cancel, you will lose the call for that month. Instead, I take extra time to write a more detailed weekly email to cover your previous and next phases.
